Easter at home

EASTER!
decorating eggs
everyone showing off their eggs
about to hunt easter eggs
emily (my sister and her daughter kylee were visiting) and i filled over 100 plastic eggs the night before with money and candy, then we had to deliver the eggs the kids colored to the easter bunny so he could hide them (we hid all the eggs during this important kid-safe errand). we hid them all in the backyard and instructed kylee to get the hard-to-find eggs, and em and el to leave the ones on the ground for drew. it worked pretty well.
Drew found his first egg! It had jelly beans in it, and he thought it was so fun to shake it!
notice his tongue sticking out - he is really concentrating on putting that egg in the basket. then he is comparing how each egg shakes differently. which one will be yummier? oooo, a clear egg i can see the candy inside!
emma and ella hunting eggs
almost done and ready to count
back inside to empty the eggs, eat the candy, and count the money!
ella is nicely instructing drew that those are HER eggs and he may NOT touch them

got the piggy banks out to put their money in and drew kept kissing his! then of course when emma saw how much we enjoyed this show, they had to do it too!
peeling the real eggs for deviled eggs - a big mess and many torn up eggs, but so fun for the kids!

ella eating dessert outside - strawberries, bananas and marshmallows with chocolate dip!

Spring is finally here!

Oh Springtime! We missed you! I didn't realize how much we needed to get outside! The kids love it, and I love to be able to send them out to play. Drew enjoys being outside and watching the girls play, but he won't crawl on the grass yet.
Ella was nice enough to share her seat with Drew for a few circles around the yard. They all giggled with every bump and turn, and I got some good exercise!
Drew sits on the little trampoline and bounces! So cute!
Ella "needed" to get in the picture too. :)
Popsicles! Drew begged for bites - and the girls reluctantly shared.
Hold on Emma!

My sister Emily and her daughter Kylee came to visit Easter weekend!
Drew has a new favorite thing! Swing!
Everyone took turns pushing Drew because he didn't want to get out! And when he wasn't in the infant swing, the girls took turns riding in it!
Going UP the slide
I finally figured out the best way to push! Then I could see his delighted expressions and tickle his feet! And I pulled the weeds out of the grass too. :)
Great weather and wonderful day!

Another fun toy for Drew. He likes to open and close the little door to play peekaboo, and it is just the right height for him to "cruise" around and play.

running around with dad. ella had to go get her tennis shoes on because "they are my super fast shoes"

Random pictures and stories

Drew loves to play the piano, and so do his sisters. But of course he can't sit on the bench all by himself, so this day I stuck him between the girls and all was well! For about 5 minutes anyway.
Emma is so cute with her arm around Drew to make sure he doesn't fall off. Such a little mommy!
Usually if he isn't sitting with me playing the piano, Drew has to stand up and although he can't see the keys, he reaches up and can play the notes with his fingers. He loves it. :)

Kelsey and I went to the Medical School Black and White formal "Medicine Ball". This was after we got home - the girls insisted on taking pictures with us.
Hmmm... I think Emma's shirt was on backwards! I told the babysitter that she didn't have to put the girls to bed early. They could fall asleep to a movie or something easy. But they were still happily playing when we got home at midnight!

instead of formal photographers at the ball, there was a photo booth!

The girls sadly haven't taken naps since they were 2 years old, but occasionally they fall asleep in funny places! Emma couldn't keep her eyes open any longer while watching a movie.
and Ella didn't want to go to bed so she sat on the floor in the living room but was too tired to fight sleeping!

Drew is a wonderful baby! He is happy all the time and very affectionate with big open mouth wet kisses. :)  He is crawling everywhere now and needs to be able to get into some things because so many things are off limits. So.... the movies. We had a terrible time keeping the girls out of them and tried putting toys in front of them and other ideas, but nothing really worked. They even used to be alphabetized! Now Drew pulls them off the shelves daily, and I quickly put them back in random order.
He likes to see how many he can knock off at once. Playing with the movies is a also a great deterent from the electrical stuff. When I vacuum he tried to eat the vacuum cord or wrap it around his neck! He is very curious about the vacuum and is constantly in the way! Sometimes if I am in a hurry I put him in the jumperoo or crib to cut my vacuuming time in half. A few days ago the poor baby had his fingers run over not once but twice! Didn't phase him though - after he stopped crying and recovered he was right back in front of the moving vacuum trying to grab it!

We got the baby swing back out because we are watching a 10-week old for a few months. Drew had been playing with it a lot, so I finally put him in and he was so excited! I didn't think he would like it. I assumed he would try to climb out, tip it over, or do something undesireable. But he was so sweet and just layed there grinning! After a long time I gave him his pacifier and he fell asleep! I'm sure we will have to replace the batteries soon to compensate for the heavier weight!
